SUMMARY

We are seeking an agile minded Tech Lead - who is passionate about changing the world via technology. The role will work with our Internet team, which includes the websites and ecommerce applications and innovations still to be created.

 

The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, self-starting, and great at working with others and leading by example.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Triage and resolve live issues. Fix bugs and resolve production issues
  • Develop and maintain up to date technical documentation related to the Projects
  • Begins to lead feature or sub-system design reviews and code reviews and be recognized as the go-to developer for that component
  • Works with development to resolve complex bugs and production issues
  • Drive architecture discussions, and propose solutions
  • Design and develop features and processes to improve system efficiency and stability
  • Provide technical design preparation and needed resources for software development (based on Product Management plans)
  • Identifies opportunities for project team productivity improvements or directions, and evangelizes these successfully
  • Articulates the architectural vision to the organization, sponsors and stakeholders
  • Validates organization roadmap against the current or expected features
  • Conceptualizes and experiments with alternative architectural approaches
  • Validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions
  • Verifies and validates development process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and methodology
  • Identifies and resolves technical issues
  • Creates specification documents
  • Provide technical mentoring to the team
  • Lead team to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects as defined. Manages team priorities
  • In addition to preparing own weekly status reports, is responsible for compiling team status report
  • Other duties as assigned

 

SKILLS

  • Thorough functional and code level knowledge of CMS and higher products and technologies
  • Strong business and technical vision
  • Strong presentation and leadership skills; equally effective with external audiences as with internal audiences
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing technical documentation
  • Extensive knowledge in Design Patterns and Application Lifecycle
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements documentation and quality assurance processes
  • Ability to manage priorities and to work under pressure
  • Works creatively, calmly, flexibly and under tight deadlines in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting/multiple demands and opportunities
  • Software development methods knowledge and ability to apply best practices on project management
  • Stays abreast of technology evolution, new solutions, proactively research and stay ahead of the curve, continuously drives self-development of new skills and enhancement of existing skills

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Expert knowledge of object-oriented design methodology
  • Extensive experience building and designing large-scale server applications in a distributed environment
  • Expert level of experience in PHP and JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of DBMS (MySQL , Oracle, MS SQL)
  • Strong understanding of Elevated X CMS
  • Strong understanding of NATS from TooMuchMedia
  • MySQL optimization experience
  • Experience with XML, HTTP, HTML
  • Experience with NT/UNIX systems
  • Knowledge of web servers: Apache, Nginx
  • Experience in UNIX systems administration installation and initial configuration practices
  • Experience with high load systems: optimization, monitoring
  • Experience of working with CDN
  • Knowledge of requirements analysis
  • Experience with distributed memory object caching systems, memcache.
  • 5+ years of experience in eCommerce
  • 3+ years managing technical and/or business team in customer-facing function
  • Education: BS/MS EE or CS degree; 8-10 years related experience depending on degree level. (Full Stack Developer Certification is highly preferred)
  • Experience with web services (SOAP, xmlRPC), REST, AWS
  • Knowledge and experience in transactional payment processing
  • Knowledge and experience in integrating eCommerce with Enterprise financial systems ERP
  • Experience with Web Security to hardening the application
  • Knowledge of vulnerability and performance of web application (Rapid7 and New Relic)
  • Strong knowledge of Shopify development is a plus
