Overview

Annual Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 annually (DOE)

 

Location: Torrance, CA with travel to Gardena and other Los Angeles locations

 

Role Location & Travel: This position is based in Torrance, CA and requires regular on-site presence.

Occasional travel to FMG locations in Gardena and throughout Los Angeles is expected, with limited travel to Boulder, CO or Seattle, WA as needed.

An Infrastructure Engineer at FMG is responsible for delivering a reliable, flexible, scalable, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure that supports both current and future organizational needs. This role requires deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving technical initiatives.

The infrastructure team provides 24x7 operational support of FMG’s VMware virtualization infrastructure and server hardware. Key responsibilities include administering virtualized and physical server environments, ensuring data center performance, and maintaining system integrity, security, and uptime.

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate on the technical evaluation of hardware and infrastructure; make recommendations, source quotes, and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Implement practices and procedures consistent with FMG's information security policies and IT standards.
  • Automate, document, share knowledge, and delegate tasks to improve processes.
  • Build infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and develop CI/CD pipelines through DevOps best practices.
  • Evaluate vendor hardware (HPE, Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge, VxRail, Isilon) to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with business needs and security standards.
  • Create prototypes and technical documentation to support infrastructure enhancements.
  • Continuously optimize systems and platforms; seek opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with architects to enhance existing and new infrastructure capabilities.
  • Align infrastructure systems with long-term organizational goals and objectives.
  • Participate in incident response and on-call rotations; proactively identify and resolve technical issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering with enterprise virtualization.
  • Proven expertise with VMware technologies (vCenter, ESXi, HA, DRS, vSAN).
  • Experience in infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Python, and Azure Automation/Runbooks.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise virtualization, SAN, vSAN, iSCSI, and high availability clustering.
  • Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure benchmarking and optimization.
  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills and responsiveness under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Availability for on-call rotation and ability to work nights/weekends as needed.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years experience administering enterprise VMware infrastructure.
  • Experience contributing to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft cloud services (Office 365, Azure AD, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong documentation habits and eagerness to learn new technologies.
